We live in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, Canada. That’s me in the middle with Chris. Carla is our fabulous realtor and my best friend. We are standing in front of the house we moved out of in June, 2010.
I’m a full time teacher, mum to two great teens, and quarter century partner to the one who does the real heavy lifting in the family. Chris is semi-retired, and is a talented chef and woodworker. My talent is picking the right man. I’m also bossy.
We are moving to moved into a new-to-us 30-year-old house from the younger one we’ve lived in for 15 years. We did very little work on our old place until the 6 months before we sold. Once we made the changes we were left wondering why we chose to live with mint counter tops and pink verticals for all those years. Changing out bathroom floors, faucets, and fixtures wasn’t that hard really, and didn’t it feel good to say goodbye to that brass vanity light with the six round bulbs? The good news is that Tofino Place requires some work, which means we will be forced to be creative. This will be a stretch for us because we aren’t home design types.
So this blog is my promise to myself that we will make the changes that can be made and not just put up with things we are too lazy to fix. I also want this blog to be a way for Charlotte to watch the changes in our new home as she heads off to university.
And I promise I won’t use the words “musings” or “journey”.
