I am crossing my fingers that this does not become an infinite list where each new task opens like an Escher room into a nightmare of possibilities.
- Install some sort of floor in the dirt crawl space. Could be poured concrete or a fancy (more expensive) 20 mm poly air tight creation. An awkward job because the crawl space is less than 3 ‘ high|
- Install a supporting wall to stabilize part of the floor. June 23rd–partially complete: Chris and Nelson supported the corner of the family room with 4 2x8s, deck blocks, and jack posts.
- Do something about the troweled plaster ceilings: either remove the ceilings and re-gyproc or scrape and re-gyproc or scrape and re-mud. June 20th– the upstairs ceilings are finished (scraped and re-mudded); July 23rd family room-kitchen-hall-sewing room complete (new board and mud on walls and ceiling of family room & kitchen, new ceiling in hall and sewing room)
- Patch the poorly mudded walls. Well, we have done what we can, but the walls still look pretty bad. So we are going to do a lot of squinting and rely on low light.
- Deal with the beam in the kitchen-living room June 18–completed by Chris and Pete
- Remove the two wooden beams from the living room-dining room (this requires a go from an engineer as the beams appear to be cosmetic).
- Paint July 22 most of upstairs is done: 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, hall, part of office
- Drywall over the cedar ceiling in the living room-dining room.
- Remove or drywall over the diagonal cedar going up the stairs. Upper part of wall doneĀ June 20
- Rebuild and properly support the stairs.
- New light fixtures Upper bathrooms, 2 bedrooms & hall July 20
- Redesign & rebuild the kitchen to swap the placement of the stove and sink.
